All places with steak on the menu for breakfast need to take notes from here. Hands down one of the best steaks I’ve ever had at a price that makes me feel like I committed robbery to get. It was tender, well seasoned with a hint of garlic, and gone before I remember to take a photo.

Wherever I am, I try to find places like this and I wasn’t disappointed. Normally I don’t get biscuits and gravy, but the gravy here looked so good that I had to try. Well, the gravy was delicious and the biscuits they use are great!

When traveling, we try to avoid “chain” restaurants and look for anything with diner, cafe, or family restaurant in the name. While passing through Portage we happened to spot the Portage Cafe. It was a mother and son working there. The service and food were both fantastic! Would definitely stop again if we’re in the area.
